Roughly fifty automobiles have been smeared with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the German municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.

Vehicles, building surfaces and postboxes were vandalized, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they stated in a statement.

Police report they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a man noticed that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish fluid.

The liquid had been applied in the pattern of a swastika, they reported.

Police then discovered multiple other smeared automobiles and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.

Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under regulations banning the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.

Police state early analysis indicate the liquid was probably blood from a person.

"There is still no indication as to where it came from; authorities are presently not informed of any injuries in connection with the event," they stated.

Municipal representatives said they were attempting "to unravel the mystery" and have asked to the community for information.

An important political figure said the attack made him speechless and had to be solved rapidly.

"This act strikes at the core of Hanau and revives the pain of the right-wing violent incident five years ago," he wrote on online, mentioning the murder of nine individuals by a shooter focusing on individuals of migrant background in 2020.
