Lando Norris Leads Oscar Piastri in Brazilian Practice Session

The McLaren driver just pipped fellow driver and title rival Oscar Piastri for the fastest time in the closing stages of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.

The British racer, who took the points lead from Piastri by a single point after taking the win in the Mexican Grand Prix two weeks ago, beat the Australian by 0.023 seconds.

Earlier in the session, Oscar Piastri had been the leading McLaren for most of the session before the sprint shootout due at 18:30 GMT.

The Red Bull star, the sole remaining contender in the championship fight, lying 36 points behind Norris, ended up in P17 as his team followed a unique setup.

His teammate the Japanese driver was the only driver to crash, though minor, when he rotated at the fourth corner during the early running.

The Japanese slid over the track edges before sliding over the gravel trap, and was lucky to get away with just a minor contact of the fence.

The Ferrari of the seven-time champion also spun, at the very end of the practice, turning around through the fast downhill Mergulho corner leading to the final corner on to the start-finish straight.

The veteran finished practice in P19, trailing teammate the Monegasque driver.

The McLaren pair were far ahead of the other competitors, with the German's Sauber third fastest, 0.619secs behind Piastri's pace.

Aston Martin's the Spanish driver was in fourth, with Sauber's Bortoleto in front of the Mercedes of George Russell and Alpine's Pierre Gasly and Williams' Carlos Sainz.
